First off what is Second Life?
Second Life is an online virtual world, developed and owned by the San Francisco-based firm Linden Lab and launched on June 23, 2003. By 2013, Second Life had approximately one million regular users; at the end of 2017 active user count totals “between 800,000 and 900,000”.

Getting started!
1: First we want to go to https://secondlife.com/ and select Join Free
2: Then you enter the username you wish to use (This will be the name how people find you) Don’t worry you can make your “display name” later and it can be anything
3: Fill out your email, password you wish to use, birthday, a security question and starting avatar (You will be able to change this later!)
4: Next it will ask you what type of account you would like. Select Basic! Premium is not needed unless you are planning on really getting involved with SL and owning a sim
5: Congrats you have made your Second Life account! Now this page will give you an option to download and install the Second Life Viewer though this is not recommend!
6: Next go to https://www.firestormviewer.org/os/ and select the Operating System you have on your computer. Most likely you are running Windows and would want to choose the 64bit download (If you have more than 4 Gbs of RAM)
7: Upon downloading an installing Firestorm, open up the program (This is called the viewer) Enter the username and password you created on the Second Life Website
8: Upon logging in you mus accept the ToS before proceeding
9: You will be logged into a tutorial of sorts, run through the tutorial to get a bearing on the world of Second Life
10: Now that we have done the tutorial lets get you to a place with ponies! You can select any of the URLs below and open with firestorm and they will take you to many of the pony sims found in Second Life.
